Overview
Some business may have different Sales Order Processing requirements where Customers need to be created based on Account creations in Dataverse. Examples could include front-line sales persons created quotes in Sales Hub and are then synchronized over to Business Central for Approval/Processing by Sales Managers or Accounting Departments.
Set Up
Before you begin, check your integration with Dataverse in Business Central.
Search Dataverse, and choose Dataverse Connection Setup
Select Related > Integration Table Mappings
From the Grid, view the integration row for Customers and confirm the direction:
In our example, we have it set up to Bidriectional, meaning if a Customer is created in Business Central, an Account will be created in CRM and vice versa.
ToIntegration means Busienss Central will update CRM only.
FromIntegration means CRM will update Business Central only.
Create Account Motion
Perform the motion specific to creating an Account in CRM. If necessary, refer to your internal Run Guide or Knowledge Base article for creating an account. Once on the create account screen, complete all required fields, specifically Account Name field and Relationship Type defined as Customer. If these fields are not completed, the integration will not trigger.
Remember to save the record and the next time the Business Central integration job runs, the Customer will be created and coupled to the Dataverse Account record.
Manually Force the Customer Record Creation
To Manually sync the creation of the Customer record, navigate to Business Central, then search Accounts- Dataverse:
Select Hide Coupled Accounts then search for the Account record and from the navigation ribbon, select the Create in Business Central action to setup the Customer record:
Final Thoughts
At time of this writing, Tax Area Codes may not be setup or integrated from CRM into Business Central. This will still need to be completed in Business Central after the Account is successfully coupled with the new Customer Record, otherwise no transactions can occur for the Customer. Processing times may vary for the Integration Synchronization between the two platforms as well. Check the Sync. Job Queue entries to see how often the job is set to run and on which days. The fastest a job can kick off is in five minute intervals with a minimum 2 minute cool down from inactivity. meaning it can take from 5 - 7 minutes to sync from CRM into Business Central.
